The McLaren Formula One team has been hard at work at the Barcelona circuit in Spain this week, preparing for the upcoming fourth round of the 2008 championship as well as putting the 2009 slick tyres through their paces. Both drivers took part in the session over the course of the session with Lewis Hamilton on duty at the start of the week.

During a break, Lewis spoke to the team’s official website about some of the new developments they are working on and his thoughts on being back in Europe….

There are a lot of new components in the aerodynamic package of the MP4-23, what are your initial impressions of these?
There was a few, we have definitely made some steps forward. I think at this test everyone is doing something different, some teams are running slick tyres, some are running groove. We are just focusing on the job, the car is feeling better and I feel a more comfortable in it.

You are now in Europe, how are you feeling after the first three races?
It is great to be back in Europe, this is when it really starts getting busy, you are closer to home, closer to the team, it is a great feeling.

Have you learnt anything over the first three races, especially with some of the mistakes you have done?
Yes, for sure, you learn something at every race even if you win. I think we have come along way and looking to the next race I feel very, very confident we can do a better job.
